Richy12
Hi Please help We are on a 489 visa living in Adelaide. We arrived in jan 2018 stayed for 6 months but then we went back to the UK for 1 year. After that year we decided to try Australia again and arrived back her in 2019. We have been living in Adelaide for 16 months and are now very happy. My question is When it’s time to log for our PR (887) Could we use the 6 months we lived here in 2018 Or would the 2 years living start again when we arrived back in 2019? Many thanks Richard
MARYROSE02
I Googled and found these requirements: 12 months as a permanent resident. Absences of no more than 12 months from OZ. Absence of no more than 3 months in the 12 month period before applying.

It appears that your Google search turned up the requirements for a citizenship application rather than those for applying for an 887 visa as the OP asked. Many thanks Richard The residence period does not need to be continuous ... if you were overseas that should be fine (living elsewhere in Australia may create issues).
