Helena&Ben Posted August 3, 2020 Share Posted August 3, 2020 Hi I’m new to this forum I hope I’m putting this in the correct section. I am an Australian citizen currently in the U.K.. Myself and my British partner want to move to Perth. We haven’t submitted a partner visa Application as yet we are hoping to do that next April however I’ve done a bit of research and I’ve come across some sites that say I now have to apply to become a sponsor before we put in our partner application. Marisawright Posted August 3, 2020 Share Posted August 3, 2020 If you and your partner are eligible for the partner visa, then don't delay till April - get your application in now, because the process takes a year or more. And yes, I believe you do have to apply to be a sponsor first. They still haven't actually implemented this change yet, although it was legislated and meant to be actioned ages ago.
