Holiday plans - where to ?

Recommended Posts

Thinking about all those who, for some reason ,like to sit on a Spanish beach and those who like to go up to Bali and Thailand every year, what are your future plans? I think for us Australians going overseas is well and truly off the agenda until at least mid to late 2021 so are you going to go local instead ? I suspect borders will be closed, too, to us Victorians for a while but where would you go when we are ‘free’ ?

Just finishing my ‘holidays’. Went into the Northern Territory desert to dig for garnets...Anyway, retirement is a permanent holiday.

A nice, big garnet for a ring

Cheers, Bobj.

My OH wants to visit the U.K., I’m thinking of stopping with a relative in Oman. Beautiful place, people and food but I didn’t go to Muscat last time - I will next time!

But the question is, when will that be?  And if it's not for another 12-18 months, are you going to go somewhere local in the meantime?

We should have been going to Sydney today from Qld, and had rented a house on the Central Coast. Not taking the risk of either infection or the Qld border closing and having to pay for quarantine . So that’s our quick trip canx and no money being spent to help the local economy.

Yes, we’ve booked a couple of weeks on North Straddie, a trip out west Queensland and planning one to Cairns! So much to do in Queensland without venturing out of the state!!
Im actually enjoying planning them all seeing as they are low cost and beautiful places.

Really disappointing to have a trip cancelled but hopefully better all round in the longer term.

We were finally going to catch up with our daughter we haven’t seen her since her wedding in December and looking forward to looking at all the photos

Just heard qld has closed the borders from greater Sydney so we would have had to pay for quarantine did the right thing cnx!!

I want to go to South Australia again but that's off. Can't even go down to Philip Island where we have a holiday house, grass must be 2 foot high by now. I guess we will all appreciate places more after all this.

I really miss my holidays.  I think I’ll just be staying in Scotland till at least the end of the year. Was hoping to go somewhere abroad in December but might not be the best idea.   Got a caravan holiday with my childhood friends, not exactly my dream holiday but should still be a laugh.   Then I’m supposed to be going to a log cabin with another group in November but not 100% sure if I’m going to go

Our NZ ski trip was cancelled a couple of weeks ago (probably for the best, since found out Remarkables are only currently operating lifts on weekends and school holidays).  Instead we transferred our credit to Norfolk island in late October.  We are supposed to be skiing in japan in January but I'm not overly hopeful that's going ahead; and next year I'm booked to go on a photography trip around Galapagos islands and Atacama Desert, but again, I'm not hopeful that it's going to come off.  Instead We are thinking about going to the places in Australia that we've talked about going but have put off because we could go overseas instead - Kimberley, Lord Howe, Winton etc.

Fine art landscape and portrait photography.  And occasionally fannying around with ultra-macro when I should be working.

I'm happy to go and explore Tassie especially the wilderness.  The more remote the better as I can't stand crowds and tourists.
