Soniah
Has anyone bought a house as temporary resident in SA? I've just read about temporary residents being classed as foreign investors and therefore needing to pay 7% extra stamp duty and apply for FIRB permission - is this correct? Feel it's really unfair if we are to be classed as a foreign investor when working and living here and paying tax

You may be working and paying tax right now but you are not a permanent resident. If you are there on a temporary visa you are a foreign investor.
Paul1Perth
Would be risky buying a house as a temp resident anyway. I've seen lots of stories where families have been shipped back, kids and everyone crying on tv, saying it's un Australian, their lifes here. Temp visa is what it is.
