AliQ
Does anyone have any idea how on earth Scott Morrison is going to "count" that allocated 4000 passengers allowed to fly home per week ? Who is going to manage it ? Who gets to decide who travels each day / week ? The airlines can not be expected to decide amongst themselves ! It's no good turning up at the airport for a booked flight, only to be turned away, many people will have no where to go to ! And before anyone else judges and makes comments about not returning earlier, well, the UK went into lockdown, so there were no removalist's working or car sale rooms open. Did people really expect us to walk away and leave a house full of furniture, a car in the garage ?
elderberry
I think I'd get out of Victoria as fast as my legs could take me! I reckon it's going to get worse rather than better. Hopefully you are gonna rent somewhere with a garden for your next 2 weeks iso in Adelaide (or anywhere else as long as you are the right side of the border), so you can at least get some fresh air. Then, finally you should be free!

I have only seen parts of SA, but the countryside is beautiful and I'm a huge fan of the Barossa valley (maybe not the best for kids though!). I'd be tempted to get across that border and have a holiday around SA given what's going on in Victoria at the moment. Plan a long weekend in Melbourne later in the year to scratch that itch. Lavers
We have our Airbnb booked for the 20th July but it's only an apartment. I'm just going to look now and see if I can find somewhere else in SA to do our self isolation. Like you say elderberry with a garden then atleast it's a step up from being locked in a hotel room.

Hi, not sure of your budget, but I stayed at Sea Gem in Henley Beach which was a good property. There’s also one in Fulham Gardens called Coastal Beauty. Also try Elite Accommodation who manage accommodation throughout Adelaide and should be cheaper than Homeaway/Airbnb because you don’t pay any fees. Hope this helps.

You’ve got the rest of your life to have weeks of freedom. You can visit Melbourne anytime. I know going from quarantine to isolation will be hard but it’s the safest option. You’ve come too far to risk something going wrong for the sake of a weeks fun. It won’t be a lot of fun either as most things will be closed. You won’t get that buzzing atmosphere and you’ll spend the time checking updates and hoping all will work out fine. I’m sure it will be lovely to get some fresh air and run about the beaches but it could go wrong. If it was me, I’d get to my destination as soon as I could. Good luck. Did people really expect us to walk away and leave a house full of furniture, a car in the garage ? The Australian High Commission London has stated on Facebook that it will be up to airlines to determine who to fly. There are reports that airlines are prioritising first and business class passengers to recover costs. Hopefully the airlines will start to do multi drop flights so passengers can be disembark in multiple locations in Australia and for the airlines it is still financially compelling to fly to Australia. We are in the same position re walking away from our home, car and jobs with no indication of when but mounting costs..

But how on earth is Australia going to manage the 4000 though ? If airlines can fly whoever they want, someone somewhere needs to be keeping a record of the passenger numbers surely ? I don't want to turn up at the airport only be told sorry, we have filled our quota for this week. Another policy with no detail or procedure, it's very very stressful. Anyway, good luck with your move and I hope you get home safely

Each State knows how many people are coming on each flight, and that information is going to them from the Australian Border Force. So the ABF will be telling the airlines , no, quota reached, permission to land will be refused, before the plane takes off. Whether your airline will be in time to notify you before you leave home is another matter. Oh well, if our flight does not take off, we'll just have to camp at the airport and wait for the next available flight as we'll not have a home to go back to to wait. I think Scott Morrison forgot that the whole world went into lockdown, and he obviously lives in another world where lockdown has a different meaning. And just found out last night that our flight has been cancelled, YET AGAIN, due to his restrictions, so how does he expect us get home then ?

It's a maximum of 50 passengers per flight (max 450 per day) coming into Sydney. Yes it's stupid, but those figures are actually correct, and the reason flights are now exorbitant. https://www.nsw.gov.au/news/quarantine-limits-for-overseas-arrivals-nsw The figure of 525 and three flights per week is for WA so I guess each flight would be capped at 175, which would seem more sensible. P.S. Thanks for your thoughts on the Sunshine Coast, Marisa!

We are looking to re-schedule for September, and in the process of selling our home, all this uncertainty would leave us homeless with 2 small kids, and a financial burden, simply based on the implications of not flying on a scheduled date. Did Singapore airlines call you to inform your flights have been cancelled, and if so were they able to provide any alternative options, like flying the next day or flights are only happening in a month? Or is it one of those situations; "how long is a piece of string"! I really would like to understand; how will the airline companies prioritize who gets on the plane. Hi JinOz, our agent told us the flight was OK, but when I checked the website myself late last night, the flight had gone. Our agent is closed till Monday, I can not get through to Singapore Airlines at all, so we're stuck in limbo right now. I've been searching online for any other flights back to Aus, and I can't find any, only one with another airline which has a huge transit layover time. We have to be out of this house on a set date, if we can't get another flight booked , then like you, we are homeless. Scott Morrison needs to step up. His policy has created serious issues for hundreds of Aussie citizens around the world.
Dusty Plains
Ultimately. I think it is going to come down to the fact that Covid19 is clearly exhibiting sufficient degrees of preponderance toward manifesting itself into a second wave. Now if the virus, and the reactionary social responses that seem to be a week too late, then we are up shit creek, chasing each wave, as opposed to anticipating the next wave. . 2 hours ago, AliQ said: Scott Morrison needs to step up. The reason that Australia is in the reasonably favourable position in relation to Covid-19, worldwide is generally summed up in two words, namely "Scott Morrison" Daniel Andrews the Leftie recalcitrant socialist Commo a*sehole who refused ADF assistance months ago because Lefties absolutely despise the military and any public profile assumed by the military , but above all, Andrews desperately needed to have the last say. Are Victorians going to vote for Chairman Dan at the next election? Please get your act together in Victoria. You are poorly led. You may recall that my wife was flying with Singapore Airlines, and when her flight was cancelled we found out straightaway because we'd registered her flight with the app. It wasn't until a few days later that I received an email from the booking agent to confirm the same thing. https://www.singaporeair.com/en_UK/us/mobile-app/ 1

You are probably unaware of the extent to which everything was shutdown in the UK from the end of March until well into May. My wife was stopped and questioned twice by the police just walking to the shops. By comparison we've been pretty lucky - it's been 'lockdown lite' over here. If you'd planned to move during that time then you had no option but to cancel because removal and shipping companies weren't working. It was still possible to get flights, but it's pretty tricky leaving a fully-furnished house for someone else to sort out in you absence.
