Submitted my application in Jan 2020 from Melbourne. Didn't hear anything for a year. In Jan 2021 moved to Sydney. Received a test invite within a week. Sydney FTW.

Right, for me it's in other direction.Applied in May in Sydney, no reply or anything, moved to Perth in Dec, got my test done and dusted in a couple of week

Fanstastic news - congratulations! When did you apply?

We applied back in April 2020 in Melbourne. Not expecting to hear too soon, but be good to know what your timeline is.

Could you please tell what you filled in for :

"Which is the Immigration office closest to where the applicant lives? "

Chased up Toowoomba Regional Council regarding test invitations, I may as well have not bothered. Basically they had no idea as they are a regional centre and it is out of their hands.

Very frustrating!

Hi @ToowoombaBlue

I am also from Toowoomba. I applied in July 2020. I have not heard anything yet.

I think the test is done by the Services Australia (Centrelink) in Toowoomba, not by the regional council.

Regards,

It appears Sydney has already started sending invites for May 2020 applicants. Anyone here applied earlier that hasn't received anything yet? Maybe applying as a family is a factor and individual applicants get processed first?

Cheers.

forgot to say, my son is included in my Application.

Is it a bad idea to move to Melbourne while waiting on citizenship? I've already passed the test and am still on 'received'

Not sure anyone knows.  It seems that two things need to happen after you pass the test ...
1. DOHA need to approve your application; and
2. DOHA need to assign you to your council.

Based on information on this portal, even after #1 happens and a couple of months have passed, people say they have spoken to their council and they don't have their application, so it is a bit of a guessing game as to what holds up #2 from happening after #1 is complete.

Can anyone shed any light?

Regards,

That’s sounds feasible, it may also explain why the person I spoke to hadn’t got a clue what I was talking about!
