calNgary
I saw a statement yesterday saying causal workers could claim benefit to cover their loss of earnings IF they are laid off due to COVID 19. It was some type of job seeker allowance and said the usual wait period would be scrapped in the above circumstances. (i cant find the article now!) My Question is, as you have to have been PR for quite a while or a citizen to claim benefit 'normally', if someone has been here over 3 years on a 408 Visa and was granted PR only a couple of months ago, would they be eligible for the above COVID 19 benefit payments if they are laid off? or have they not held PR long enough to be eligible? Would the years spent on her 408 count towards the wait time? Thanks for anyone who can help or point me in the right direction.
