How common is 186 DE at big firms?

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

Hi all

How common is it for the big consulting/accounting firms (e.g. Deloitte, KPMG, etc) to offer to sponsor a new employee on a 186 DE while they are offshore?

And does it make a difference if the potential employee is at a high level?

Thanks!

Most would go temp visa first as processing times for 186 have blown out. Also not all big ones sponsor. Some won't even sponsor temp visas. Individual policy.

Not at all common AFAIK.   The application process takes far too long.   They will go for a 482 (temporary) visa first, to get the applicant onshore and able to start work.

When I was contracting, I worked for a few large firms which simply wouldn't sponsor anyone, except at the highest levels.

Each has their own internal Policy and it will vary.

Generally 186DE would be very rare and used only for very senior roles.
