Day 4. Terrible night, chest and back feel like I have been skinned. Headache and heavy headed.  Going from hot and sweaty to cold and clammy.  Was feeling better yesterday middle of the day but worsened towards the evening. Now is the worst I felt so far.

Had some paracetamol and going back to bed.

Paracetamol OK, ibuprofen and cortisone aren’t

So I got up, had some soup and toast, had a shower, took a powder. Still feeling sh!t but no worse so hopefully in recovery mode. Called my dad - seems ok but he is one of the most at risk (mylema) so I'm worried.

Made me think about what's important in life.  We should start being nicer to each other - never know what's around the corner.

To all the at risk people on here, please take it seriously! To those who can't (take it seriously), do it for those people above who's life might depend on you.

Sermon over.

Now I need something funny to watch. Any recommendations?

You could have any sort of bug that's going around Simmo.  You don't know if you've got Covid-19 until you've been tested for it.

Glad you're feeling a bit better.  😀

As suggested in another post, China needs to answer some critical questions that the world will be soon asking. No its not too early to be thinking about the next virus coming out of China. It will be interesting to see if the UN General Assembly has the ticker to ask these questions. I doubt it .

We are told this is the Asian Century. Funny that. The Chinese people that I met did not consider themselves Asian any more than a whole lot of people in the UK would consider themselves to be European.

I read somewhere that if the trials go perfectly, it will take 12-18 months for any vaccine to be ready for public use

Quite.  It took nearly 6 years to get an Ebola vaccine for public consumption.

Don't be holding your breath.

I found some paracetamol powders that seem to help with the headache and temperature.
The dry cough and no snot seem to make it feel different from a conventional cold/flu.  Dry lips too.
Dry lips???? So your a woman in disguise....?

Those who have had it saying they having the Flu is far worse than having this virus, so if you feel like you are at deaths door it is almost certainly the flu.

I won't comment on your view of this pandemic, except to post the following

Quote

Claim: ‘It is no more dangerous than winter flu’

Many individuals who get coronavirus will experience nothing worse than seasonal flu symptoms, but the overall profile of the disease, including its mortality rate, looks more serious. At the start of an outbreak the apparent mortality rate can be an overestimate if a lot of mild cases are being missed. But this week, a WHO expert suggested that this has not been the case with Covid-19. Bruce Aylward, who led an international mission to China to learn about the virus and the country’s response, said the evidence did not suggest that we were only seeing the tip of the iceberg. If borne out by further testing, this could mean that current estimates of a roughly 1% fatality rate are accurate. This would make Covid-19 about 10 times more deadly than seasonal flu, which is estimated to kill between 290,000 and 650,000 people a year globally.

Claim: ‘It only kills the elderly, so younger people can relax’

Most people who are not elderly and do not have underlying health conditions will not become critically ill from Covid-19. But the illness still has a higher chance of leading to serious respiratory symptoms than seasonal flu and there are other at-risk groups – health workers, for instance, are more vulnerable because they are likely to have higher exposure to the virus. The actions that young, healthy people take, including reporting symptoms and following quarantine instructions, will have an important role in protecting the most vulnerable in society and in shaping the overall trajectory of the outbreak.

Claim: ‘You need to be with an infected person for 10 minutes’

For flu, some hospital guidelines define exposure as being within six feet of an infected person who sneezes or coughs for 10 minutes or longer. However, it is possible to be infected with shorter interactions or even by picking the virus up from contaminated surfaces, although this is thought to be a less common route of transmission.

Confused as to why Boris didn't order the closure of hospitality venues, like other European countries have. It couldn't possibly be that they'd have grounds for insurance compensation due to loss of earnings would it? That would've really upset his paymasters.

The usual teflon accountability from these cowards. And a glimpse into the way this place will be going with these at the helm - it's your problem, not theirs.

Boris is in hock to his paymasters and also he and his party are ideologically opposed to exercising any state control over the actions of citizens whatever the circumstances, well we are about to see how that works out.

They are just starting to realise that they will have to take action and actually be in charge AND BE ACCOUNTABLE, something that Boris and his chums evade always.

This time they will be nationalising the airlines, airports, bus services and the railways which his party gleefully told us would free the taxpayer of debt as they privatised them and brought in Billions in receipts when they were sold off, well there is now going to be a reckoning and especially when people realise that our health infrastructure has been deliberately driven into the ground.

In 3 weeks world connectivity has been halted and the UK, in one of its rare truthful disclosures says quarantining will last into the summer,  imagine the economic damage that is going to wreak.

My strongest feeling is that in the UK Tory Cabinets, past and present, should be made to publicly account for their policy of austerity and to apologise and recant like the Catholics had to in the 17th century, often before they were executed.
