simmo 21,945 Posted August 5 "Massive Water and Cloud Boost From Tonga Eruption Could Explain Recent Unusual Weather Patterns" "The accurate satellite record confirms that last month was an unusual weather period with higher than normal temperature recordings on both land and at sea. It was the warmest July since 1979, it tied with March 2015 for the second warmest departure from the norm and it was the warmest month for tropical land. Of course, the climate alarmists had a field day, with ‘global boiling’ now making an official UN appearance. Inexplicably missing from all the hysteria, however, was any mention that NASA scientists have recently confirmed that the Tonga volcanic eruption in January last year boosted water content in the stratosphere by a massive, and weather-changing, 10%." "Hunga eruption ranks it among the most remarkable climatic events in the modern observation era, with a range of potential long-lasting repercussions for stratospheric composition and climate." "evidence for an unprecedented increase in the global stratospheric water mass by 13% relative to climatological levels, and a 5-fold increase of stratospheric aerosol load, the highest in the last three decades. Owing to the extreme injection altitude, the volcanic plume circumnavigated the Earth in only 1 week" https://www.nature.com/articles/s43247-022-00652-x https://agupubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1029/2022GL099381 https://www.nasa.gov/feature/jpl/tonga-eruption-blasted-unprecedented-amount-of-water-into-stratosphere

A report concluded natural bushfires do occur but the vast majority were due to human causes including arson. 1

simmo 21,945 Posted September 12 It's all unravelling . Shocking Failures of Climate and Covid Science Highlighted by Critical New Report BY CHRIS MORRISON 12 SEPTEMBER 2023 7:00 AM The recent and concerning collapse of the once revered scientific process in large parts of the climate change and medical community is detailed in a highly critical ‘open review’ paper from the Global Warming Policy Foundation (GWPF). Someday, charge the authors, there will need to be an inquiry into how so many scientific bodies abandoned core principles of scientific integrity, took strong positions on unsettled science, took people’s word for things uncritically, and silenced those who tried to continue the scientific endeavour.Universities have abandoned their historical role of open and disinterested enquiry on behalf of humanity, and “should be sanctioned for this by revoking their charitable status”. Group-think that maintains prevailing fads and supresses dissent on behalf of alleged ‘consensus’ is the opposite of the central purpose of universities. Mainstream media have long been uncritical receptacles for alarmist ‘clickbait’ political scare stories, and this, it might be added, encourages self-promotion among aggressive publicity-hungry scientists. There are many errors and deceptions and much censorship, state the authors, blighting the complete story being told in an unbiased manner. Singling out the behaviour of state broadcaster the BBC, they note: “Any reasonable observer will wonder whether Ofcom [the state regulator] is asleep at the wheel, not requiring the BBC to correct the errors it has been made aware of by experts, nor return to some form of neutrality.”The report is mainly written by Professor Michael Kelly, the former Prince Philip Professor of Engineering, Trinity Hall, Cambridge University, and Clive Hambler, Science Lecturer at Hertford College, Oxford. There is also economic input from Professor Roger Koppl from Syracuse University. The full GWPF report is due to be published in December and the paper is currently open for review, comments and contributions from other academics. The GWPF notes habitual attacks on its work from activists, and its ‘open review’ policy is explained here.

Scotland had 20's plenty zones over 10 years ago, in most of the locations you hardly noticed the difference as the road layout and conditions meant that not may people were going faster than that anyway.
unzippy 3,972 Posted September 26 When Betoota isn't funny you should be worried... Quote PURCHASED INACTION: Australia's working class are set to experience the potentially fatal repercussions caused by a combination of political inaction on both housing policy and climate change this summer. This follows yesterday's announcement from The Bureau of Meteorology, who have formally declared an El Niño weather event, meaning one is underway for the first time in eight years. The major climate event impacts the weather patterns of 60 per cent of the globe, with Australia particularly vulnerable to its impacts. The record-breaking Summer will come after three back-to-back La Nina weather events, plunging Australia into a rapid slingshot of heat that has followed the three years of unsustainable rainfall and chilly Decembers, which in turn had followed the catastrophic black summer bushfires of 2019. However, this one is gonna be hotter. And the BOM says it's gonna be the hottest in those poorly designed housing estates that have been rushed through by governments beholden to the wishes and donations from property developers who have not read or considered even one report provided to them by weather experts who have been warning that this kind of urban sprawl will literally kill people. Aside from having absolutely zero access to schools, hospitals or public transport - Australia's medium-density homeland suburbs are made up of cheap black roofs, tiny yards with limited space for vegetation, concrete and bitumen everywhere and a lack of mature trees on nature strips. New housing developments in urban sprawl suburbs like Marsden Park, 50km northwest of the Sydney CBD, are among the suburbs creating urban heat islands that will exceed well past 50C this summer. Urban heat islands occur when urban spaces on the city's outskirts become much hotter than surrounding, less urbanised areas, or even the medium-rise apartment dwellings closer to the ocean. The BOM says that property developers that have complete control over government policy are about to learn why they should have fcuking listened to them, as are the fossil fuel lobbyists who have fought tooth and nail to continue the accelerated burning of fossil fuels into our atmosphere for 200 years.
