Does my tax change on my salary?Do I need to apply for citiZenship? What is an RRV? I have a 10 yr old daughter, I’ve been told we need to be citizens for her to receive government funding for Uni. jbh Posted September 19, 2019 Share Posted September 19, 2019 You will be paying tax as a resident. If you were paying tax as a non-resident, then it will change. But you should note that if you were on a work visa, you probably would have been paying tax as a resident (the term "resident" is different for tax purpose and visa). seems PR can also get allowance (but doublecheck it yourself): https://www.humanservices.gov.au/individuals/services/centrelink/youth-allowance-students-and-australian-apprentices/who-can-get-it You need to have lived in Aus legally for 4 years, with the last 1 year being a PR.
