Hi Guy's,

If you are reading this the chances are, you have either done the practical or waiting to go and do it.

Got some questions if you can help:

Do you have to wear overalls?

Do you take all tools on the list given?

If you are going to London on the 22nd so am i, See you there!!

Can you share information that may help me.

Should i be concerned about welding

Getting anxious now as the days draw closer for my practical, any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

For you guy's who have done the practical, hope you all pass!!!!

Cheers Andy

hello andy,

its not that bad,

you don't have to wear overalls.

they have all the tools there.

and don't worry about welding, they only do silver soldering.

but take food and drink, its a very long day.

i was there at 7.30 to 5.30 and add only a 20 min break all day.

goodluck

Hi Andy

My OH is a plumber. He is slightly behind you on our quest to the dreamland. He has submitted his paperwork to Vetassess via an agent. He is just waiting for an examination date. I would be grateful if you could provide feedback once you have completed your test.

Goodluck, I'm sure you'll do well with all your experience behind you.

Regards

Kelly

If you have a time imperative I recommend you consider engaging an agent in Australia, as this could lop a couple of weeks off the time before the visa application is lodged. I say this as there is paperwork to be submitted in lodging the skills assessment, and the result will be issued by post.

In case of need:

Go Matilda - Your Gateway to Australia - Contact and Feedback

You must have a migration skills assessment letter from the assessing body before your skilled visa application can be lodged.

Best regards.

hi again

does that mean we can submit papers to vetassess and get the go ahead for practical and apply before the practical is done or do we have to wait until the practical is done before we can lodge visa application by which time we are too late.

Hi there,

was wondering if you have any advice on vatassess, I am getting slightly worried about all the talk about sprinkler systems, I have been a plumber for 14 years and because I work on new build I have never had to install this system, could prob do it if I was asked but worried because I do not have any experience, would this be a problem with my skills assesment?

Any suggestions apreciated,

cheers, Ian

Hi Ian, sorry no help here but just to reassure you, your not alone (like that's a big help lol). I have adapted existing droppers to sprinklers where room layouts have been changed during reburishment works on offices etc but wouldn't be able to design a system alone. As your probably aware, of here (UK) sprinkler systems (SS) are usually installed and maintained by dedicated SS companies. I believe it's the same in aus. As i understand it, after taking the vetassess practical, if there are elements that we can't do, or can't prove we have sufficient knowlegde/experience of, we have to go to college over in aus to gain accreditation. It might be worth checking with your agent as i'm not totally sure i'm correct on that (will check myself).

If their after plumbers, i don't think they'll fail you for not being able to carry out work which is really a specialised area (unless your hoping to do sprinkler system work, then your screwed lol).

I'm more concerned about the domestic water treatment plants as most of my work has been commercial plumbing on pubs, schools, hospitals etc

Hope this has been worth the read and good luck. Have you a date for your test yet?
