804 Bridging visa A Aged Care Assistance

Recommended Posts

Hi, Curious to know that if a parent  who is on a 804 Visa Bridging A needs to go into a nursing home, are they eligible to receive government assistance via My Aged Care ? They hold a reciprocal Medicare card and have received subsidised rates for in home care?  Many thanks for any information.

Thanks for your response. I remember this story which was sad. Don’t know whether she received the government assistance on her Aged Care fees. Thanks again

It does say this in the article

For most of this time, Ms Manley was looked after by her family until she was placed into an aged care home two years ago after her daughter, who is her only child, had a stroke. According to Mr Rowe, her care has so far been covered under the Reciprocal Health Care Agreement between Australia and the UK.

But on 13 May, the family received a letter informing them Ms Manley had not met the health requirement and therefore failed her application for a visa unless the family was able to provide a reason why the ruling was incorrect.

Or an application for a medical visa might be possible?

Generally you should assume no public funds will be available and only private care available
