Sam25
My friend has been in Sydney for tourism last couple of months. Want to go to New Zealand a couple of days and then return to Sydney which will start her next 90 day allowable stay period to do some English and more tourism in Australia. The condition is 3 months maximum stay per entry Is going to New Zealand and back in a few days to restart her new 90 day period acceptable practice? paulhand
Yes, provided that she doesn’t make too much of a habit out of it.
Sam25
Thanks Paulhand!! In relation to 'habit' part ; well she intends to go back to NZ in December for about 5 to 10 days to see friends and come back to Australia for about a 4 or 5 weeks for Christmas/New Year and visits to Byron Bay NSW and Goldcoast for further tourism before flying home late January 2020. She would have copies of her planned tourism itineraries and bookings for December 2019 and January 2020, bank balances as well as copy of her return flight ticket by then. She said she may do a 4 week uni holiday English course before going home to Brasil so she could show her enrollment for this also. Would this second re - entry be questionable?, Thank you kindly
paulhand
She might get asked some questions, but if she has the documents to demonstrate genuine tourist activities and the money to fund this activity, then she should be fine.
Sam25
Thank you kindly That's good for her to know and I'll pass on. I tend to think it should be fine as she is genuinely traveling in Australia and exploring places....
Sam25
Hi Again, Paul I also inquired with immigration at Auckland airport NZ and they did say it would be good for her to have her documents: Australian Visa, Auckland tourism Itinerary, Auckland accommodation booking, return ticket to Australia etc, and other evidence of activities she would come back to in Australia such as her enrolled English course starting on her return. They said it just depends on the person passing through the immigration and if there are any reasons they were not happy. The guy was fairly relaxed about it and balanced. They also said its best that if asked she be honest and also explain her 90 days expiry on her tourist visa means for her to exit Aus so she is complying with this part as well. Do you agree with the above transparency if she is asked at NZ immigration at the airport about her reasons for visiting Auckland? Kind Regards Mark
paulhand
Always tell the truth to immigration (and everyone else, really!)
Sam25
Ahhhh, I take it you suggest at NZ immigration she just states her intentions to visit NZ Aucland for a couple of days tourism? And show her money and return ticket to Australia etc etc
