Hi Guys,

Just curious where you guys are getting this info like MAY-JUNE 2016 had 9000 together or any other number referring here, could you pls help me with the link....

thanks.

It’s soMe where in the earlier pages in this  topic but can’t remember how far back. It was a freedom of into request and another poster (Biggsy??) managed to construct a list of 143s from it but the queue actually includes the other  parentVisas types  as well so What is shown is lower than the actual  figures

You can also google Australian migrant program report 2020 and look for the one from home affairs - extremely interesting !!

@Alan Collett an Agent who posts on here also has an interesting blog

https://www.gm-parent-visas.com/parent-visa-processing-timelines-the-gory-details/

The  queue calculator that showed how many were in front of you crashed after two weeks - not surprisingly !!

when did you lodge ? If it’s after 1st June 2028!thete will be an extra wait as these visas are assessed befits bring out into a queue.

How can I guess how many people are before me NOV 2016?! Or  how long does it take to receive anything from immigration?!

Yes dear i applied after 1st june 2016....😞i was excited before i start reading the threads here.... i thought if they assessed application until May 2016 based upon system generated email i got from parents@homeaffairs.gov.au.... but apparently someone told me here they applied in April 2016 and still have not heard anything so that means i gonna have to wait like forever....very annoying....

If you look at what I posted and scroll back in this forum you will find a list and you can use that to count how many 143 are before you

It won’t be accurate as It doesn’t include 173 884 and 864 but gives you some idea

This is the data that a member put together to show amount of 143 applications by month

Interesting but difficult to relate those figures to figures some of us had from the queue calculator )which was for all contributory parent visas not just 143) . For instance one poster with date of 31/10/16 was told 10450 in front of them in queue calculator for all visas , yet going on these figures of just 143 there would have been 12492 in front of them so more than the calculator said;  whereas my date of 21/06/17 in the queue calculator for all visas said 22900 but in these figures (again just 143 ) I have 17167 in front of me so first poster had less in queue calculator than these figures whereas I had more in the queue calculator than these figures so it doesn’t make sense.

I think  it’s best to wait  and see what @Alan Collett posts as he’s waiting on some statistics that might hopefully give all of us a better  idea of where we all are!

Yes let’s see, who knows what figure is correct. This is the data from the big list of daily 143 applications that a member got from Immi.

The information was collated from here

Yes it’s just 143 so not an accurate guide as we’d need to have 173, 884 and 864 included as well as it’s all the same queue in supposedly “strict date” order

Having said that I find that this group is one of very few that has a realistic view of the wait times. There are many other Posts on social Media that have a very blinkered view of the wait times

Did you manage to get a figure from the Queue calculator @Lady Jane ?

I agree with you, people think that they are going to have a visa in 4 to 5 years. I’m so pleased Kath Smart told me about this forum.
I did get a figure From the calculator at the end of May but sadly can’t remember what it was exactly but I think around 1500.

I have tried to tell people about this forum and also about wait  times but I just get  shouted down so it’s not worth my trying anymore. I just want people to be realistic now rather than getting upset 4 or 5 years down the line - it’s so depressing reading posts saying something along the lines of “YAy  I’ve put my application in and I’ll be there in a couple of years !” ☹️ And even  worse when some agents don’t give realistic views

Hello dears,

I lodged my visa 143 application on 20 Sep 2016. I used the calculator updated 20 May 2020. It showed that the approx. number of persons ahead of you in the queue: 9220. This number includes applicants being considered for visa grant this program year.

I have not received any request from the Department.😭

Sadly at present cap of 4500 grants per year allowed,  that looks like around a further two year wait 😱

Hello to All,

I do follow this thread, although I have not commented before because our application will not get processed any time soon.  With reference to the calculator, we applied for 143 on 27/01/17. I checked the Queue calculator on 28/05/20 and there was 13340 people ahead of us. so from 20/9/16 to 27/1/17 there must have been approx. 4120 extra applications according to the calculator. According to the spreadsheet above the figure is just over 3800 (approx.). So in this case the spreadsheet is a good tool for guidance and we all must remember that nothing is certain, so many things can change over time.

The extra Numbers are probably the other parent visas, 173, 884 and 864, all part of the same contributory parent queue.

I think so, LindaH27. A four year wait passed plus two more. I might become a ‘giraffe’ 🦒🙁😛

looking at Qatar airlines, they go from Heathrow to Doha and then to Melbourne or Adelaide, then onto Brisbane. Does anyone know if you have to quarantine twice ie in Melbourne then in Brisbane.

I reckon if its a connecting flight then you dont need to leave the airport and catch your connecting flight from melbourne or adelaide. And then just quarantine in your last port of arrival i.e. brisbane..

You will be quarantined at the port of entry.  You cannot board any domestic flights in Australia until you have passed quarantine.  The good news is that QLD does not require double quarantining.  That is, if you were quarantined in Melbourne, and then escorted directly by police from the quarantine hotel to the airport for your flight, then you will be given a statement that exempts you from having to quarantine again upon arrival in QLD.

I thought Spain had a retirement visa, with a pathway to permanent residency:

Not entirely the case in some countries.  We have lived in Malaysia for almost 10 years on a retirement visa called Malaysia My Second Home.  If you can fund yourself and can prove it by depositing funds into Malaysia, older retirees have been welcomed here.  Similar idea exists in Thailand, although I believe the entry criteria are slightly different there.  It all boils down to being able to be self-sufficient financially and thus we will never be a burden on the state.

I don’t know for sure but aren’t the states, apart from WA, opening their borders at the end of the year so will that mean no quarantine interstate?
