Aysh.a Posted June 24, 2019 Share Posted June 24, 2019 Hello everyone, I am new to this forum. I need some clarification on claiming points for qualifications. In August 2018, I received positive skills assessment outcome from VETASSESS for Marketing Specialist occupation. The skills assessment was based on my work experience, and my bachelors and masters degree. However, after positive skills assessment, I received my PhD degree from an Australian university in December 2018. My PhD degree has not been assessed by VETASSESS. I have claimed 20 points for the PhD in my EOI and lodged 190 visa application in Jan 2019. Is it alright to claim points for a degree that was not part of the skills assessment outcome ? VETASSESS plays no part in assessing the comparability of academic qualifications, only whether the content suits them, similarly for other skills assessing bodies. For more search CEP. As it is a Phd from an Australian university which is already in the required AQL level, hence I understand that there is no role for vetassess here. I had a impression that I can claim points only for the degrees that are assessed by the assessing authority. I really feel better reading your reply. Thanks again! Hey mate, I did my Finance degree in Australia and successfully claimed points for it. faisal Posted October 17, 2019 Share Posted October 17, 2019 Hi All i have job experience (4yr overseas+5yr Australia) - mkt specialist I have received positive skill assessment from Vetassess but they have said number of years assessed positively is 3.97 yr. does that mean I cant claim point for the other years? much appreciate your response.
