Gareth Mundy Posted June 15, 2019 Share Posted June 15, 2019 Hey I've been Adelaide for 18 months on a working holiday visa, my company has offered to sponsor me but i didn't declare my convictions on the WHV application, i was sentenced to 15 months in prison and have a couple minor convictions. Tulip1 Posted June 15, 2019 Share Posted June 15, 2019 I doubt it. I don’t think you will pass the character test. To my knowledge a prison term of 12 months or more is usually a no. Jon the Hat Posted June 15, 2019 Share Posted June 15, 2019 (edited) You will have to provide a police certificate as part of any visa application which will show your conviction, and then it will be immediately obvious to the case officer that you failed to declare this when you applied for your WH visa. It is hard to see how you would then meet the criteria. One thing they really really don't like is people who lie to get a visa. Maybe have a chat with a migration agent to see if you've any hope. Normally convictions which have 12m+ prison time cause serious issues with the character test component of any visa. You will need police checks for both UK and Australia, and so there's no way of avoiding Immigration finding out.
