Esteban
Hi I am new to the forum, applied for a visa 143 just over 3 years ago but since applying have been recently diagnosed with Rhumatoid Arthritis, Osteoarthritis as well as having type 1 diabetes for 6 years. Other than that I’m fit and healthy 59 year old with my diabetes well under control. My question is how much will this affect my medical, recently had chest x-Ray and other tests, including TB and HIV and all clear. Also anyone know what the cost of medication for these conditions is? Very worried after all this waiting and so near to the final post that this may stop us! ali
I know people with diabetes who have migrated. Did you take letters from your specialists/GP regarding your conditions?
Esteban
My specialist for my diabetes said he was more than happy to do a letter for me. It’s the recent Rhumatoid arthritis etc which is my main concern with the drugs they are putting me on. Hopefully before my medical I’m hoping they will have stabilised it with the medication but all adding up to quite a cocktail of issues. ali
When I did my medicals I was told by the receptionist to bring any reports for any conditions as they would be submitted with the medicals. She said what the panel want to know is: what is the condition and duration, what tests/investigations and treatment and what the prognosis is. If you provide the information, the panel may then not ask for any further information or tests to be carried out. Medication prices vary - you can look up the names of your medication - you can pay up to $40.30 for some medication under PBS (some are cheaper). Esteban
Thanks for the replies, the x Ray and tests I had done were not for the medical but because of the Rhumatoid arthritis and the medication they need to put me on, but I will make sure I have letters etc from my diabetic specialist and from the hospital regarding my treatment. It’s just after such a long wait I feel I could fall at the last hurdle and this will destroy my daughters who have been waiting so patiently for us all to be be together as a family and to see my grandson growing up!! Really hope all goes well for you. It’s a real worry now that the visas are taking so long, that health becomes a problem. I wont post our story before our visa comes through, in case anyone official reads these posts? but let’s say timing was everything when we had medicals recently. Someone was on our side.
Wicked
Hi Esteban, hope you are feeling well. I have a similar situation, I have been waiting for my visa response and need to take my Health Examinations next week. I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and it has been controlled with a fairly cheap medicine, diet and exercise. Have you received any news about your visa? Did you get your response? And did you submit the letter from your GP along with the medical tests? Hope you can let me know how did you go. Thank you!

You say your taking your health examination next week can I ask when you applied for your visa as so difficult trying to find any information as where they are with the processing of applications. I hope everything goes well for you.

Hi, it will depend on the cost of the drugs... are you on a biologic or something cheaper like methotrexate?

This looks to be nearly 3 years old. Someone resurrected an old thread. Would be interesting to know how they got on though. ETA: although it’s a 143 app so might still be waiting.
