Jelly
http://www.iscah.com/iscah-unofficial-skill-select-results-11th-april-2019/ According to the above link (estimated results for the April 2019 skillselect invitation round), less than 300 invites were issued in this round. Non pro-rata occupation needed 85 points for an invite. This is getting ridiculous. Does anyone know why this is? Is this likely to continue? Karstedt
It's anti-migrant politics. The govt has been subtly and not-so subtly been blaming migrants for their own corruption and failures for years. This is how they show they are fighting the migrant menace. If the libs keep power on May 18, it will almost certainly continue.
QuinoaLover
If LNP wins, are they going to change the policy? They seem to be ok with the current policy, at least for now.

Karstedt
There are no promises in politics... but the shadow immigration minister has basically said everything Dutton did was crap and needs to be undone (rarely have I been in such agreement with a politician). One specific aspect they have plans for: Quote ... Labor will establish the Australian Skills Authority – an independent, labour market testing body which will determine genuine skills needs and restrict temporary work visas to those only areas. - Shayne Neumann (address to Migration Institute of Australia) Labor has been quiet about changes to numbers, but there are several indicators that suggest they think the slash to skilled migration is bad for the economy and that focus should be shifted away from temporary migration toward permanent.
