Motorbikes, can I take an unfinished project?

hi guys! I can’t find any information on importing motorbikes. I have two motorbikes that I want to bring with me, one is a complete bike(MOT, etc, UK) the other is a part built project, but registered(V5). I seem to remember reading somewhere that I can only take one bike, if I took the project bike in parts, can I assemble and finish it when we get settled and register it in Australia? Any info would be wonderful!! Thanks!

Depending on the age of the bikes you might get both.

If either bike was originally built before 1989 you can bring it as a pre89 and the other as a personal import.

Or you can contact a Registered Automotive Workshop (RAWS) and they can help bring in a post 1989 bike but they charge a lot for compliance. So you could bring the project as a personal import and the complete bike as a RAWS import if it is allowed under the SEVS scheme (specialist and enthusiats vehicle scheme).

What are the 2 bikes?

Hi! Thanks so much for getting back to me! The complete bike is a 1994 Honda Fireblade urban tiger which I have owned for 20 years and the project is a Yamaha Thunderace which has been a nut and bolt restoration. The project is running and a rolling chassis. I did maybe think of just leaving the frame in the uk and buying a frame over in aus and building it back up? Is this frowned upon?
