Marisawright 6,598 Posted March 19, 2019 (edited) I don't think there is. That's why I ended up joining this forum - because I was looking to move back to the UK (I have since moved back). What did you want to know? We looked into marrying in the UK and eventually decided against it. From memory, the problem was that we would've had to fulfil a residential requirement, which would have meant going back several weeks before the wedding day. Things may have changed, though. One thing you can consider (which is what we did) is to have a civil ceremony in Australia (followed by an informal party for your Australian friends), followed by a blessing in the UK or Europe. We did ours on Santorini so the family got a holiday out of it too. lucylou1 11 Posted March 19, 2019 Thanks for your reply Marisa. I'm Australian and he's British with Australia citizenship but we want to get married in the UK. If I stay less than 6 months do I need a visa, can we just go an get married? The website is all over the place and I'm really not sure what I need to do. We just want to go, spend say 3 months there, get married and come back to Australia, almost like a destination wedding We want to get married in the UK and have a blessing back here in OZ, we have more friends and his family in the UK. It's so overwhelming and really taking the excitement away from a happy time. Applied 7 March 2014 for Citizenship, Australian Citizenship granted 26 June 2014. You probably need to look at getting a Marriage Visitor Visa https://www.gov.uk/marriage-visa

We don't want to live in the UK If you look at that visa, it specifically says that it's for people who just want to visit and get married, not to live in the UK. So that is what you need to apply for. That's not the end of it, though. You have to attend the registry office to give notice of the marriage 28 days beforehand - so that means you've got to be in the UK 28 days before the wedding day. If you're getting married in church, they may also have requirements. The one for marrying AND living there is totally different.
