spaceman490
Hi all, Just a casual question here as I'm sure some people have had experience contacting Migration Agents for Visa Assessments. Could anyone give me a rough indication of how long I could expect to wait for an assessment? I'm looking to see my possible options to move to Australia on a skilled migrant (189) or state sponsored (190) visa, considering I have just completed 3 years of post-qualification professional experience. I've contacted a few agents and gave them the information they needed which was confirmed by their side but it's been over 2 weeks and I haven't heard anything from them. I've made sure to look for reputable agents so I'm quite surprised it's taking so long. Thanks!
VERYSTORMY
IT is difficult to say as it varies by occupation and the individuals points.

Could anyone give me a rough indication of how long I could expect to wait for an assessment? Whom have you contacted? Were they MARA registered agents? I think it's rather unusual to send an email with all your details upfront, you'd usually make contact with the agent, find out whether they offer a free consultation, have a chat with them and then decide whether you wish to engage them. spaceman490
I've contacted 4 companies, all of which are MARA registered and have numbers for the organisations as well as MARA numbers for their agents. Two of the companies asked me to fill out an online form with my details, one of which eventually got back to me after a week asking me to confirm some details in the form. Since then I have not heard a reply and wasn't sure if it is too early to send a follow-up email. The other two companies I gave an assessment form via email after first contacting them and getting a description of their services. These ones I have sent follow-up emails to and have not heard a response in over a week and a half. Since I am based in the UK and these agents are based in Australia unfortunately I do not have a way to call them up directly from my mobile phone set up. Still, considering they are all big successful migration agent companies I am curious to know how long they would need just to tell me if I have prospects or not. I've given as much details as I could including my nominated ANZSCO code and work experience descriptions.

spaceman490
I see. The individuals I contacted had MARA numbers nevertheless, and I researched their scope before reaching out, so I am confident they are suitable agents.

You can check their MARA registration details, as you did with the Australian ones, and as Nemesis suggested, be sure the registered agent actually owns and runs the company. spaceman490
Thanks for your advice @mrsmac, I have contacted a few reputable MARA agents in the UK and have already started getting responses. Quite a difference in response times; could it be that agents based in Australia are more focused on processing local clients? The ones in the UK told me I should at least get a response or confirmation email within 2 days to a week at the very most.
