ME AND MY OH ARE REALLY UP AGAINST IT I THINK.POSS PROBS WITH OH`S EX AND A FEW OTHER WALLS TO OVERCOME,MY MAIN WORRY IS PAYING FOR EVERYTHING.WE HAVE NO SAVINGS AND STRUGGLE AT THE BEST OF TIMES.I AM RECONING ON AROUND 10K TO GET US SORTED,AND OUT THERE.

CAN ANYONE OFFER ANY IDEAS?I AM LOOKING AT GETTING A SECOND JOB TO GET EXTRA CASH.

Judging by what we've spent so far, I think £10k is about right if you are using an agent. It may be £1k-£2k less depending on how many of you are going. If there's just 2 of you I would budget £8k and, say, 10k if there is 4 of you for example. It would be cheaper if you weren't using an agent (ok if you have a straightforward application).

 

Also, don't forget, a lot of the rental properties require 6 months rent up front if you have no credit history in Australia. You will probably also need to buy 1 or maybe even 2 cars.

 

I can't think of anything else right now. I'm sure someone will coreect me if my figures are out, but I'm going by what we've spent.

I'm afraid I don't have any quick fixes,but maybe cut up all credit cards,and simplify your life as much as possible.can you poissibly get rid of your car if you have one?Sounds drastic but you'll be surprised how much you can save.I guess as well a 2nd job would'nt be a bad idea,maybe stick the earnings from that into a separate account.You'll get there eventually,good luck xx

Weve cut down on everything! Sold the house, now living in a rental ( wish we had family to move in with cause that would make things cheaper, but noones got room for us!), sold the car and now running around in a cheap little renault. (hate it but it does the job and brill on petrol), living on bare minimum food wise. Saving every penny every which way we can because it will be worth it in the end. Taking between £10,000-£20,000 with us!

Hi, unfortunatly we got nowt to sell we living in rented house now and due to becoming bankrupt last year our car went with that, so it looks like working 7 days a week and saving like mad i.e as you said bare minium shopping wise for however long it takes might be the only way but what the hell it will be worth it.

Sounds like you are really struggling, we are really putting ourselves through it too but yes, it will be worth it. We are working every spare hour, I can only work part time as we have no child care, but every bit extra will help.

In our experience yoiu dont need 6 months rent up front juist a bond good tip get a holiday let first for a few weeks then get a reference off your landlord aussie references are worth a lot uk refs licences mean sweet fa

Really like the idea about the holiday let never even crossed my mind to do that but well worth looking into.

Holiody lets are not cheap but theyu are furnished and have garages and things we had 2 cos thicko me didnt budget on being booked for second month ( WAITING for gear coming over pond )

(if we get in that is) We probs just go with the clothes on our back lol, we hopefully going out for a completley fresh start. so hopeing to get everything we need when we get out there and settled so hearing a holiday let thats furnished seems just what might be what we after.

We are in WA and heard same but we found different it can help sometimes but we did not needd sorry for italics bloody nlaptop

 

foned by agent sayin owner might sell our rental after choking on price told them no selling agent diffo one toldus today rhey are sellin it homeless:cry:

We've looked at a few holiday home letting sites didnt realise they were going to be that expensive but we'll keep looking as a few seemed reasonable. we are hopefully looking at moving to melbourne.

Its ok they have to honour the lease but we have to clean and tidy for open views and its not our bloody house and we have to go out xcuse for a beer think we`ll leave the dog in:biglaugh:

Theres a caravan park near us at Burns beach being a bit nosey looked at rates on web they want $800 a week cheaper inn a hol let

We are waiting to here from Go Matilda to get the ball rolling. We have a mortgage, so when the time comes we will have the house to sell. The thing is, it is ex council and of a non traditional construction, the council have now decided that there might be problems with the integrity of the building. They have done up a few adjacent to us and found nothing wrong with them. The problem for us is the surveyors don't seem to know that. We have just re-newed our mortgage and the value has dropped by 25k in 8 months They have given us a price of approx, 22k for them to render the outside (which is what I do for a living) and new roof. They are taking the p1ss. We are now stuck in this situation, if we don't have the work done the house will look awfull at the side of the refurbed ones. If we do have it done it will take all the equity out of it. Then there is the fear that we may not be able to sell it.

 

We are hoping if all goes well we will be going to Brisbane.

We can sympathise with you in the situation you are in, with the work situation at the moment and the house, we may go bankrupt.

 

Anyway things have to get better.

ot will need a certificate to say it is kosher one good thing aboot the uk

I will do the render myself, the problem is getting the materials, it's quite a specialised

system and very difficult to buy, unless you are an approved applicator. I worked around europe using the system they are using. It would also get me quite a lot of work from neighbours wanting theirs doing.
