s713 2,065 Posted September 18, 2022 (edited) Meghan seems to be a bigger issue in Australia than she is here. I wonder why that is? Edited September 18, 2022 by s713

Changed my view a little with regards Daily Mail. They had a front page expose on The Ice (meth) epidemic in Sydney. West Australian over here in WA , doesn't appear to want to pick up the story of what's going down in WA. But back on subject. The right wing tabloids long ago made their minds up about Megan. Not to her favour. But could you expect much else from them? Edited September 19, 2022 by Blue Flu

newjez 10,751 Posted September 19, 2022 I have to say that Britain does a bloody good funeral. They have given her a stupendous send-off, and fair dues because she was a fantastic monarch. But I will always be team Harold. They stole that crown. Not forgotten. Not forgiven. 1066 and all that... 1 1 Nearly there! Don't drop the ball now guys! Vaccines are weeks away. Stay safe! There was something quite touching about Windsor, starting off from a country lane and then turning up the hill on a roadway virtually squeezing them off the path onto the grass. It looked a bit wonky but was actually very powerful and intimate......until you saw the massive castle of course. My missus sniffled at the pony. I've demanded a march for my funeral, brought back a lot of memories of army cadets 30 yrs ago. Marching slowly is just the hardest thing to get right.
s713 2,065 Posted September 22, 2022 I'm not a massive monarchist but, you're right, the state funeral was magnificent. I couldn't care less what Australia does in the future, it doesn't really change my/our day-to-day. But I'll take a constitutional monarchy over a President every day of the week, given what our President would probably look like. All Worldly traditions should be preserved, the march to remove identity is not really something I support. Respecting culture doesn't mean aggression or meanness, it can be progressive and I think the UK do it quite well.

This is a forum about being based in Australia though, which I was once. You personally contribute to plenty of threads about what is happening in the UK. Are you about to stop? Happy to stop the Aus opinions if you are prepared to bow out of the UK ones......

ramot 7,084 Posted April 29 Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we could have a total Meghan free reporting black out week in the press, at the very least until the coronation. Forever is I realise too much to hope for.
