Are the shares in public or private companies?

If public, could you not just instruct a UK broker to sell the shares and wire you the funds? I am sure there are online brokers which can do this for you or high-street brokers in the UK where you can set it up over email/phone.

I am still in the UK but most of my investments are with Vanguard - If I moved to Australia and I wanted to cash in on the UK investments I would just log on to the app, sell the shares/funds/ETF's and transfer the proceeds to my Australian bank account.

The annual limit for CGT allowance in the UK is £11,700 for 2018/19 so, for me at least, no CGT would be due.
