calNgary
Parts of QLD have today introduced a cashless card for those claiming benefits under the age of 35. Its aimed at reducing the amount of money spent on drugs, alcohol and the pokies by benefit claimants, but not everyone seems happy with it. I think its quite a good idea going off this article, but don't know all the ins and outs. https://www.9news.com.au/2019/01/28/15/52/news-queensland-welfare-cashless-debit-card-alcohol-drugs?ocid=Social-9NewsB Cal x
ali
I know that some Aboriginal elders in communities have asked for these. I think it was trialled in Kununurra and the Goldfields (somewhere else in the Goldfields but can't remember where). There's some reported stigma at using the card
calNgary
Kununurra , that's where our old boss has his new business isn't it? If it stops kids going without necessities ,then its worth a go in my books. Cal x
