‘Dream peninsula getaways shine in 2018 (31 DEC 2018)

Among the top 2018 sales in the Mornington Peninsula was Rovina at 3808 Point Nepean Rd, Portsea, which fetched $13.8 million in April.

The early 1960s-built cliff-front residence looking over the pier and Weeroona Bay has a prime Portsea spot on a large 1990sq m.

The house, with a design by renowned architect Geoffrey Sommers, made use of recycled materials from well-known Melbourne buildings and was styled like a Mediterranean villa.

It offers grand interiors with a five-bedroom floorplan and lovely outdoor viewing terraces.

There are multiple living zones, a central pool atrium and outdoor entertainment area.

The property has a separate bluestone cottage and also offered the option to purchase a boatshed positioned directly below the house on Fishermans Beach.

The Point Nepean Rd stretch of Portsea was listed among the nation’s most-view streets based on data from views by house hunters on realestate.com.au over a three-year period.

In Dromana, a new luxury house was snapped in January for above $10 million to set a new suburb record.

Cevennes at 97 Harrisons Rd is a stunning five-bedroom, six-bathroom house on an 11.3ha allotment within one of the peninsula’s oldest vineyards.

It comprises a main residence with a series of luxury villa suites and also features its own helipad, resort-style outdoor areas and offers stunning views.

The buyers were a couple who already own homes in several countries, a spokesman for listing agent Michael Keating International said.

The house is one of the most luxurious built on the peninsula and was designed by Greg Coles, who is well-known for luxury resort designs, the spokesman added.

The landholding was developed in the 1930s as a vineyard and was once owned by well-known winemakers Seppelt.

Towards the end of the year, 3 Callanans Rd, Red Hill sold shortly after being listed with a price guide of $7.5-$8 million. It is understood to have sold within that range.

Set in coveted Red Hill spot, the home, with a design by Louis Chiodo Architects, sits on a large acreage with picturesque gardens and views towards Western Port Bay.

The bespoke home with quality finishes has an open-plan living and dining zone with a marble-wrapped fireplace. Three lavish bedrooms, multiple living zones, a granite benchtop kitchen, study, balcony and a cellar are among its many features.

Outside are bluestone terraces with landscaped gardens and a mod grass tennis court. The versatile allotment also has 14 horse paddocks, three cattle paddocks, state of the art stables and a floodlit covered riding arena.’
