jonnyah2006
We submitted our 189 visa application on the 11th of August and received a request for medicals and police checks today. In other people's experiences, are we likely to receive any additional requests for information or documents after this initial contact? Or can we expect a visa grant after submitting the police checks and medicals, assuming they all check out?
JetBlast
Usually you will get a grant after police and medical checks.
Bran
I would expect that any additional information relating to your application would be requested at the same time as the police and med checks, although I suppose they can request info anytime they choose. We were only contacted once for med and police checks and received the grant just under 2 months after supplying those. Good luck!
Mick 190
How many months did it take for you to get the visa bran?
SoniaG
I front loaded everything and ended up getting my direct grant in under 4 months. I know many ppl say here not to front load everything but i really did not want to wait for the CO to tell me what was already expected from me. Dazspy
Hi, I have just received the invitation to apply for the 489 visa, I know this is a different visa but my question is related to the medicals in particular. First of all, where are people going to get their Medicals? [UK] Second, what is the process for organising the medicals, I have read about the 'Health Declarations' process, but this seems to be for those that want to organise Medicals BEFORE an invitation? I have read on this thread 'Front Loading' which I assume means uploading the Medicals, before they are requested? Our situation is that we are expecting a baby March next year and I would like to leave the 'window' for arrival into Aus as wide as possible, which means not rushing the medical [and police checks]. I suppose this means.. wait for the CO to request our medicals? I also don't want to fall foul of the '60 days' visa submission window. lots of questions, thanks for you time! Darren If you want to draw it out as long as possible, yes, wait to the pcc and meds are requested. The immigration website has a list of approved medical oractices where you can get the medical done, I think the UK only has about 10 these days. To arrange it you need to phone them directly and make an appointment.
jonnyah2006
Additionally, i think you'll need to get medicals done for the baby once he / she is born, so it might be worth waiting until this point for all of you. I believe immigration will put your application on hold until the baby is born if you inform them that you're pregnant.

Darren Hi Darren, I have recently applied for the 489 visa and once I applied for the visa, on my immi homepage it has a drop down tab titled "ACTIONS". When I clicked this dropdown menu it was telling me to complete a questionnaire and arrange medicals. I have had no contact with a CO yet as I have only just applied for my visa, I assume this is what they call front loading but then the instruction was in the "ACTIONS" list as stated. It was kind of the same with the Police Checks, before I could pay for my application I had a list of documents I had to upload and if I missed any out I had to provide a reason for this. As Police checks were one of the documents I went and got them and uploaded them prior to paying for the application. James

Darrenhttps://www.homeaffairs.gov.au/trav/visa/heal/meeting-the-health-requirement/arranging-a-health-examination This should answer most of your questions. As others have said, wait until CO contact as that’ll give you the longest window possible

I guess the system was updated from July. It wont let you proceed unless you have uploaded all the required docs and that includes PCC and medicals etc. I was given advice to wait till CO contact before doing medicals but i had to do the health declaration and medicals before the Submit button was activated. Unless you want to explain why you can not provide documents at time of submission, the immi system will force you to frontload all docs.
