Chrisberg
Hi I have been fitting intruder alarms and CCTV for 20 yrs for several companies but with no formal qualification could I find work in this field? My wife has a opportunity to move the entire family over but I would also need to work.
VERYSTORMY
Potentially, but it would be a struggle as one of the obstacles is that you would probably need a electrical license. These are issued by the state and even electricians can find it a pain - it will mean you working as a trade assistant for a while. - usually about a year (a bit like an apprentice) and undertaking some college courses. If your visa is a 482 temporary visa, this can be a further issue as partners on 482 can find it harder to get work as they are only in the country temporary and the length of time isn't up to them as if the main holder loses there job, they all have to leave. Also, the college courses would be a lot more expensive as fees would be for an international student.
