Baker1702
Hi My girlfriend and I are moving to Melbourne next July. She currently owns a 1996 Classic Mini and we are toying with the idea of taking it with us. Has anyone done this before with such an old car? Is it easy enough to do or are there a lot of hoops to jump through? Thanks [emoji16]
unzippy
Post this in the pinned thread at the top of this forum: "Is it worth bringing my car? The Iron Lady's trusty new calculator reveals all! " I think the main stumbling block will be the potential of asbestos in the gaskets/clutch/pads. That and the roads in Melbourne are shocking. I've seen potholes that a proper Mini would get stuck in!
ArrowsEng
As long as you have owned it for more than a year then you will be fine. You apply for a personal import approval, see Iron Lady, he helps a lot of people bring over personal Imports from UK.
Paul1Perth
When I saw classic mini I was expecting a cooper S from the 60's. A 96 one isn't that old really. You could probably pick one up here. My son had a 1969 Chevy Corvette for a few years. In great nick. Things don't rust here.
