Nick77
This might be a bit of a tricky one. My wife and I are both Aussie citizens but out children (aged 3 and 1) were both born in the US. We are currently permanently residing in Sydney but our kids are on ETA tourist visas, sub-class 601 which will let them stay in Australia for up to a year but they need to leave the country every 3 months and re-enter. We are in the process of applying for Citizenship by Descent but by the time that comes through, there first 3 month period will have expired. Calling the immigration hotline is useless, is there anyone on this forum that has any idea how we can go about extending or switching visas so that we don't need to leave the country and come back in. FYI, I believe they can apply for a short stay visa but this costs $355 each and I don't really want to pay that amount!! Anyone?
