Harmaye
Hi. We want to bring my 86yr old mother to Sydney on a 12 month tourist visa. She’s in excellent health but we’ve been told that she might need to have private health insurance to support the visa application. I would appreciate any ideas of which companies might cover her please. Thanks.
rammygirl
Hi. As she will be a tourist not a resident she should get extended travel insurance from her country of residence. She may also be asked to undertake a medical as part of the visa requirements. What country does she reside in?
Harmaye
Thanks again rammygirl. She’s living in Ireland. She doesn’t have private health insurance there. She’s very healthy so I think she’ll be fine re a medical or doctors cert. I would like to arrange the Australian health insurance also to tick all the boxes. No, that's not what Rammygirl is saying. She's saying that as your Mum is a tourist, she can't get the same kind of health insurance that Australians get. She'll basically get a kind of holiday insurance. There are a few companies which do offer cover for visitors on a 600 vis: https://www.hcfvisitorhealthcover.com/overseas-health-insurance/get-a-quote https://allianzassistancehealth.com.au/en/visitors-visa-ovhc/visas-we-cover/600-visa-health-cover/
