Tax file number ?

Recommended Posts

hello

i was working in Australia in 2015-2016 on 457 visa . it never worked out and left Australia in April 2016 back to the UK. surrendering and canceling the 457.

My question is when i was there i had my:

tax file number

medicare card / file

credit file

i have the opportunity to go back on the new 482/TSS visa would i get my original tax file number back or issued with a new one ?

sane question regarding medicare & credit history file ?

Thanks Danny

I think your tfn and medicare numbers are for life, your tfn should be. Not sure how long credit files last in Australia, in the UK it is 6 years, so possibly similar.

Sorry can’t be more definite but this would make sense.

I have an original letter here from when I got a Tax File Number in 2011 on a working holiday visa. It says on the letter that the Tax File Number will remain with you for life.

My husband was away from Oz for 26 years and got his original one back so they're definitely for life!!
