SWMOY04
not sure currently, but we submitted and got response same day with 85points. Secondary school teacher and nurse combination...plus young ages with experience
VERYSTORMY
IT will depend on points
JetBlast
Someone else on here said you get an invite when the state has approved the application. So I guess it depends on that state as well. South Australia advertise 15 - 20 Weeks for their part of the process.
Barrywelsh
Ok thanks, I have 65 points and I’m applying for QLD . Does this normally happen after an invitational round ?

Does this normally happen after an invitational round ? invitation for 189 first if there are slot remaining for 489 that they will accommodate. From last invitation round in July, they invited 489 with 80 points who have - only 10 got invited. Cut off date was June 8, 2018 (date of effect)
Barrywelsh
Do you think their is a chance I won’t even get an invite with 65 points

Barrywelsh
Where do you find this information? I can find the section which indicates 10 visa for 489, but it does not mention they had 80 points

State and Territory Governments nominate throughout the month for specific points tested skilled migration and business innovation and investment visas." Dazspy
I'm assuming there is no access to a resource that shows any numbers for regional 190 visas? Even historical data?
Barrywelsh
Yeah I checked with my agent, he said the points Refers to family subclass 489.....not skilled regional sponsorship

Barrywelsh
OK great , do you know roughly how long, from EOI to invite
MaggieMay24
It depends on the state, the occupation, your points, etc. The states don't follow any fixed schedule for accepting nominations and they don't publish data about when/how many nominations they accept. kerry knight
I submitted out 489 EOI for a COOK for Queensland, on the 30th July and updated it on the 2nd September which increased my points to 80. We had an invite on the 4th September. I am hoping that the application process is fairly straight foward! I hope this helps.

Barrywelsh
Hi Laura, I went via the 489 state sponsor route which the number of points is not really taken into account providing you get more than the minimum they require. Are you applying for 189? I got my invite and received my visa in Feb this year, hoping to fly out in October

Well I'm currently waiting on ASMIRT (but worrying if that will go through as i specialised after 1 year) and I've sort of been offered a sponsored position and although it's located exactly where I want/doing what I do now, I'd much rather be on a permanent visa than temp and have to faff trying to get a permanent visa after 4 years. Congrats on getting your invite! Does your visa mean you can only work in regional Australia/any other restrictions? Laura

You do know that you don't have to wait 4 years? If you can build up enough points before then, there's absolutely nothing stopping you from applying for a permanent visa yourself. The only downside is that you'll have to pay all the fees yourself if you apply independently, whereas if you wait patiently till the end of your contract, you get support from your employer. But personally I'd say it's worth it. Edited July 9, 2019 by Marisawright
Barrywelsh
Yes a 489 regional means I can only work regional for 2 years, then I automatically can apply for my 887 which gives me PR. Usually now days getting sponsorship is pretty difficult. A few years back they were pretty common but the Australian government made it more expensive and more restrictions, but I’m sure after two years sponsorship they you get a more permanent visa. Asmirt are pretty strict with the amount of general and CT you do after qualification. I know one radiographer who they refused as they went straight into Mri after qualification. Are you a Sonographer? Where is your sponsorship?
