Fi H
Hi, I lived in Australia from 1996 till 2002 and had a HostPlus pension, to which I paid additional contributions. I've asked HostPlus about claiming the money when I retire, but I can't seem to get a straight response. From other sites, it would appear that I can't, but is there any way I can transfer the superannuation to the UK? As I was a permanent resident (now lapsed) I can't claim it back as a temporary resident. I'd really appreciate any advice. Many thanks
Andrew from Vista Financial
Hi Fi H Yes that's correct if you were a permanent resident then you will only be able to draw this money under a condition of release: https://www.ato.gov.au/Individuals/Super/In-detail/Withdrawing-and-paying-tax/Withdrawing-your-super-and-paying-tax/#Whenyoucanaccessyoursuper Typically this for most is retirement. Marisawright
Write to Hostplus and tell them to cancel all insurances, if they haven't done it already. That will get the fees down to the minimum and allow your money to keep growing.
