Aussie pension

Recommended Posts

Hi,  I lived in Australia  from 1996 till 2002 and had a HostPlus  pension,  to which I paid additional contributions.  I've asked HostPlus about claiming the money when I retire,  but I can't seem to get a straight  response. From other sites,  it would appear that I can't, but is there any way I can transfer the superannuation to the UK?

As I was a permanent resident (now lapsed)  I can't  claim it back as a temporary resident.

I'd really appreciate any advice.

Many thanks

Hi Fi H

Yes that's correct if you were a permanent resident then you will only be able to draw this money under a condition of release: https://www.ato.gov.au/Individuals/Super/In-detail/Withdrawing-and-paying-tax/Withdrawing-your-super-and-paying-tax/#Whenyoucanaccessyoursuper

Typically this for most is retirement.
