Electronic equipment trade worker technical interview

Recommended Posts

Hello All,

I'm going to attend the Vettass technical interview for electronic equipment trade workers, on next week, I'm really depressed after seeing the Fact sheet of this trade in the Vettas website, it has a variety of different electronics subject and most of them i lost the touch. I have a 10+ yr experience in the UPS testing, So suggest somebody how usually the Vettasss technical interview.

How long it takes usually ?

The questions are multiple choice written test or general standard face to face interview ?

The questions come from my field of experience or the complete electronics subjects ?

Are they ask any problem solving questions ?

Any sample questions can suggest anybody ?

If we fail the interview, do we need to pay it again the fees for the reassessment ?

It may feel you silly questions, but i'm really in a bad position, your valuable answer can relax me. So please support.

Thanks

James.

Hi James666,

I have been through the process.  My back ground is over 17 years in Avionics but most of our stuff is box in box out and some wiring, very rarely do we do any electronic stuff nowadays. but here is my experience with the interview side.  If you need to just look things up before had and do a little study as you will find its lodged somewhere inside your brain you just haven't used it for so long.

The Interview will last around 45 min to an hour and will ask questions covering all the subject on the description.  My main failing was some newer symbols used in circuit diagrams.  The main aspect would be to elaborate on your answers where possible.  The more information you provide freely without being prompted make the other person ask less questions.  In fact I answered some of the upcoming questions earlier and the interviewer just skipped them.

Always remember the health and safety aspect of the Job.

As I said I was an Avionic tech so had no idea about Plant maintenance till the interviewer pointed out working on aircraft with the Power supplies (High Ampère Generators) is plant maintenance. That was the only area I was worried about.

I took mine last year so I cannot say what questions you will be asked but usually what a circuit does/ symbols/ wiring for Networks ( I only remembered Cat 5, 6 and 6a the standards and not the others!!!!!) you will be glad to know they don't expect you to know Fibre Optic stuff as this really is a specialist area.  Health and safety is also vital.

If you most of it and cannot remember just say you don't remember and you would look it up.  Though its a test not everyone will remember everything and unlike an exam as long as you know what your taking about and elaborate you will be fine.  Don't try and make things up as the interviewers are experts and do know it all or have it written down. if pushed use as a guess but state you would look it up before you carried out any work.

If you do miss out on some items its not the end as if you actual are borderline they will ask you to do a practical.

My best suggestion is don't be nervous.

Cheers

Z
