Coffs Harbour

We are a family of 5, children are 19, 12 and 7. We have just been granted our 190 visa. We originally looked at Port Maquarie but after research there doesnt seem to be many jobs available (partner is an electrician).

We are hoping to make the move in October 18. We were wondering what the best areas are to live? Such as affordability of rentals, schooling, clubs, activities etc.

Any help or advice on Coffs Harbour would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance

I have friends in Coffs Harbour and they love it.  Not sure if job prospects are any better than Port Macquarie, though.  If you want an area with good jobs, Newcastle would be your best bet, I think.  More built-up but at the same time, it has great beaches (Nobby's Beach is right in the city itself) and some lovely areas within easy commute.

Hi @RachelP welcome to the forum. Electricians are usually in high demand anywhere. Would he consider going self employed?

Thanks for the welcome. My partner has to retrain to Aus standard so hoping to get a secure job and retrain whilst doing so. Possibility of self employment in the future? As hes self employed at the moment.
