hookturn
My son is going to be 5 years soon. Can he used the booster seat from mothercare when travelling in the car? Or does he need the child car seat with harnesses?
Quoll
Which state? They’re slightly different. Also, an6 restraint should have the Aussie tick of approval so unless Mothercare has ventured down under it probably won’t be legal. A quick google summarises Here are the minimum legal requirements for using child restraints and booster seatsin Australia: ... Children aged four years up to seven years must use a forward-facing approved child restraint with an inbuilt harness, or an approved booster seat with a properly fastened and adjusted seatbelt or child safety harness. Quoll
https://www.vicroads.vic.gov.au/safety-and-road-rules/vehicle-safety/child-restraints/children-aged-between-4-to-7-years Theyre keen on the “approved” thing - if you’re in an accident and the seat isn’t approved your insurance is void. Leave Mothercare behind. Edited July 19, 2018 by Quoll
can1983
whilst it is true that car seats from Europe are not legal in Australia the whole thing stinks of a money making exercise. For Australia to suggest that its seats are world class and European standards are dangerous and risk the lives of children is pathetic. The Australian car seats we have used (borrowed family / friends / hire cars) have all been rubbish with fiddly harnesses which cant be clicked in without leaving a twist in the strap. The tether strap for rear facing seat aims to decapitate the cherub.
