Hi, will you be able to share how you got a high score for writing? struggling at 7.5 for writing. Thanks.

I can help with PTE if you switch

I haven't tried PTE and not much aware of it either. Is it possible to score above 79 for all categories in PTE?  so it will be equivalent to 8 band in IELTS.

It is possible. My last score was 90 90 90 85.

It took me a number of attempts and I kept failing on the writing until I found a particular method.

Is it possible to share this method? if there are no reservations in sharing. Thank you.

Hi, Just wondering if you would be able to share how you prepared yourself for the PTE. Sorry for sounding too pushy. Thanks.

Hi, it's my opinion that obtaining a +8 score in writing is impossible, I took 2 IELT's test and scored 9's for R, L, S and 7.5W on both occasions.

My advice would be to book onto a PTE test, pay the £50 or whatever it is to have access to their mock tests and example questions, I found the mock tests (with scoring) very useful.

Now within the PTE test each communication skill (speaking, listening, writing, reading) has sub tests, for example repeat the sentence, re-order paragraphs, re tell the lecture etc.... There is a brilliant organisation called “e2 Learning” that have videos on you tube that explain how to tackle and answer each individual component. I watched the video for each component just once, did one mock test and got an overall score of 88. I found the test significantly easier, fairer and wasted a lot less time awaiting results. Good luck!

I also watched the you-tube videos from e2 Learning. I believe if you figure out the structure they are looking for with your writing you will be fine.  I sat the test twice and got the desired results second time because I studied more on structure. For example with re tell lecture I followed a structure found online. I think it was something like this:

The speaker was discussing....

Firstly...

He mentioned...

Moreover...

Finally...

Also for the essay I focused on questions I found online asking about a topic and your opinion.  I followed the e2 Learning style with a slight modification because all the questions I ever got were asking for my opinion.

The e2 Learning describe image is great and if you follow it you will score very well.

I also did  the paid  practice test the day before my exam.

Good luck.

Thank you  @jonno 1981. What about your status?

We got state sponsorship and submitted 489 visa application 31st October. Front loaded form 80’s and most police checks.

Still need a Philippine NBI police check for my wife (first week in December).

Also having to organise specialist medical reports for my wife before we can book a date for the medicals, hopefully January.
