I am planning to visit Australia as a tourist. As I have 457 visa, can I visit with that or should I take a tourist visa? If it was granted quite a long time ago, I would be very cautious about arriving with no plan to start working for the nominated employer. If questioned upon arrival, I'm not sure if Immigration would let you use a 457 in place of a visitor visa. Maybe I'm just paranoid though. You got it right, trying to enter on a 457 with no intention of working for the nominating employer is a recipe for disaster. How the OP might satisfy thye GTE for a visitor visa will be an issue.
