High Points for 489/190 - South Australia

The 489 isn't a temporary visa though is it? Its always referred to a provisional visa.

The number of grants per month. So they might have hit the limit for November. I guess we should see quite a number of grants next week.

Yeah, it's not temporary, it's provisional. So although it has an expiry date, you get a lot of the benefits of permanent visas.

Fingers crossed for a big surge at the start of the month and we get in next week!!!!!!

Hello all, i am about to submit SA 489 application. I am realising tht positions in acs letter, service letter/payslips/tax statements are different. Wat shud i do now?
As long as the job title in the ACS assesment and the title in the skilled occupation list match you will be fine.

Ya they match. But i am seeing discrepancy about the positions held. I got positive skills asssssment for software engineer. But the position is written as senior test analyst where as my  payslips/service letters, etc have test analyst as position. Wat do u suggest? Do i need to re do skills assessment?

Is it mandatory to submit same proofs to SA that we subkitted during ACS? I mean same stat decs, etc

Does the occupation list for 489 SA change every 6 months? Or does it change randomly anytime? My occupation software engineer is available in special conditions only as updated in 6/7/18. Can i expect that this remains contant till 6 more months i.e till feb 2019?

My acs letter is due in jan and i want to pay migration agent fees this week only if the occupation remains till jan ending or feb...Any pointers on this one?

The list is updated very regular but It is very unlikely to come out of special conditions until July 2019 when the annual quota is reset.

My occupation is now in special conditions but wasn't when I applied in July.

Fine with the existing speccial conditions. Hope they dont impose some more special conditions to filter out candidates by jan end.

I would go again in a heart beat - it was amazing. I have family in Brisbane as well. I am close to them, I see them more than family who live 5 mins away from me. I love Australia and Asia as well so being in AU is a perfect place really.

I have a rough idea. I plan to fly into Brisbane and stay will relatives for a month. I can have a break, see the family and get over the jet lag. I then plan to get an AirBNB in Adelaide for a month and use that time to find a more permanent place to live and start find a job. Where I want to go I am not sure. I am thinking maybe a 2 bed apartment in the CBD but I would also like the space to spread out and would like to park my car on my own drive so maybe the suburbs. I need to decide really.

Just wondering whether we would need to enter SA first due to the state sponsorship?

SA NOMINATION CAME THROUGH THIS MORNING!!!!!!!

For those counting and awaiting their invite, that's 7 weeks and 0 days (I've updated the spreadsheet).

I'm going to pay my MA their visa installment fee today and they've quoted around a week to get everything sorted for the draft visa application. Fingers crossed the application will be in by the end of next week!!!!!!!

Best case scenario: direct grant, flat sells easily, we're in Adelaide by the end of summer 2019. More likely to be late 2019 or even early 2020 but we can dream.....

Beers on Henley beach - I don't care what season it is.

Congrats guys, I knew you'd catch us up!

We finally submitted last week, medicals on Monday so we are all front loaded and hopefully we'll get there before the medicals expire in 12 months!

We've spent the extra time trying to make sure our application is as complete as possible so we can 'fingers crossed' get a direct grant. Been searching to see what extra information the case officer's request and uploading those too. They seem to request form 80s and proof of employment quite often so payslips and form 80 added!

I'd love to be one of the lucky ones who get a direct grant in 3 months! Although I did see someone get one in 44 days! How awesome would that be! Good luck everyone [emoji16]

Thanks Jellica & JetBlast!

Great to hear you're now in the system officially. I've spoken to my MA's team who advised we should fill in the Form 80s and send over Sophie's most recent payslip to show she's still employed, so it sounds like you've got the right things already. If everything has been included, there's no reason not to get a direct grant!!!!

Congrats Jon&Sophie, Jellica & JetBlast! Just hang on and live your life without thinking about the big move too much. We've applied for the visas back in March and we've had the CO contacting us 3 times since then, last time only requesting updated police checks. However, even if we get a positive decision this month, we wont move (to sunny Adelaide) until March or even June. Regardless, we'll make sure the Henley beach can accommodate all of you guys who applied this year! 😊

CO assigned today. Request for outstanding health and police checks.

It appears they are motoring through applications.

Outstanding police checks submitted.

Medicals for my son and I were done last Thursday 29th November. All fine as far as I am aware.

My wife’s medical is more complicated. She has a heart condition, history of extra pulmonary TB (lymph node) from 10 years ago, and mild scoliosis.

We got a specialist medical report from a UK based Consultant Cardiologist, which confirms her heart condition is not serious and probably won’t require medical intervention.

We decided to also get specialist medical reports to show she no longer has TB and her scoliosis is minor (16 degrees, no further curvature expected).

My wife did her medical examination today in Philippines (as we are currently on holiday). We submitted the reports for the heart and TB, but we’re advised by our agent not to hand over the one for scoliosis as her condition is mild, requiring no treatment, and does not affect her life in anyway.

To add further complication however, the medical examiner picked up that my wife had a swollen lymph node in her neck. They haven’t advised a course of action, just stated the Australian Government will review the details and advise if any further information is required. As a preemptive strike, we’re going to the hospital tomorrow to get her lymph node checked out and a biopsy done if necessary.

In a nutshell, all outstanding documents should soon be with the Australian Government. However, I’m fully expecting delays due to my wife’s medical history.

At no point in this whole process has it been easy!!!

Morning guys.

Not sure if anyone is fussed but I've been looking into large supermarkets in the Western Adelaide area to get an idea of where is within walking distance. We want to live in Henley beach so we're screwed and will be getting the bus it seems, but for those who haven't chosen a suburb yet, this gives you an idea. I've only made it for the Western suburbs as we want to leave near the beach but it covers a fair distance.

We won't be buying a car, so each circle represents roughly 5 minutes walking and I've only used big Coles or Woolworths:

Dark green - 5mins, light green - 10 mins, blue - 15 mins, orange - 20 mins & red - 25 mins
