WEDAGE Posted July 4, 2018 Share Posted July 4, 2018 I Got a Temporary VISA under skilled — Designated Area Sponsored visa (subclass 496) on 17 Feb 2015 and expires on 27 Jan 2019. (4 years) I went to Australia on October 2015 and came back to Sri Lanka in Feb 2016, due to my daughters education (4 months stayed in Australia) They said (Immigration) i have to live in Australia 2 years and 1 year full time employment to get the second stage of (887 application ) getting the permanent VISA If I go to Australia in August 2018 will I get a extension period of 20 months (on shore) Please help me Thanks to every one Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
MaggieMay24 Posted July 5, 2018 Share Posted July 5, 2018 The 496 visa is closed but I can't see any possibility you could get an extension for it even if it was still in effect. If you don't satisfy the criteria for an 887 visa (2 years living/1 year working in a designated area), then you would need to apply for a new visa. The 496 was replaced by the 487 visa. Any way I am going to Australia next month and I want to tell every thing to the immigration and get a extension if they did not give, I want to appeal for the rejection.
