dmackeys
Hi, I'm wondering if anyone can clarify with me how the 60 days after a 457 ends work for a secondary applicant. I'm the secondary on a 457, and the primary will depart the country soon. I've been informed by their employer that they will terminate the visa 28 days after they depart. As a secondary; do I then have 60 days from that date to remain lawful in the country? Or is my visa gone after 28 days? Thank you.
MaggieMay24
The employer doesn't terminate the visa. The employer reports to DHA that the visa holder has ceased working on their 457 visa. The visa holder has 60-90 days from the date they finish employment to find another sponsor or face having their 457 cancelled. It may take DHA much longer than that to actually cancel the visa, although you would be in breach of the visa conditions if you don't get another visa or leave the country once that 60-90 day period is finished.
