Is Labour Finished?

Recommended Posts

Corbyn has let antisemitism rise withing his party by his support of Hamas and other anti Israel groups and now they have this thing as their NEC leader to replace the previous holocaust denier.

If being against many Israeli positions with regard to Gaza, the West Bank, settlements etc is anti-semetic then I guess I must be too.  I suppose that is the problem when a government and a religion are co-terminus.

Yep, all made up by the right wing press, take this for example, from the notoriously fascist Independent

For Christ sales, it's a lib Dem paper. Do you really think they are pro Corbyn? Seriously mate, it's not all fascism and everyone else. I am centre left, and I have very little in common with Corbyn. I would follow the lib Dems, but, not after they fell in bed with the Tories. I don't read the independent because it's rubbish and doesn't work on my tablet.

The debut poll by new polling firm Deltapoll, founded by former YouGov pollster Joe Twyman and ICM’s Martin Boon, has found that more than half of voters think Labour has an anti-Semitism problem and over a third think Jeremy Corbyn is himself anti-Semitic. 51% think Labour has at least pockets of anti-Semitism, and 34% think those pockets include the leader. That’s one poll Owen Jones won’t be gloating about.

It is a real shame that that is all they have. That Corbyn doesn't bend over for the Israelis when they go on a slaughtering rampage. Which incidentally, seems to have had very little press, and I don't think it was mentioned on here.

I have a lot of respect for the Israelis. But they have stepped pretty far to the right.

I don't have much time for corbyn. But I do know that if the Tories don't pull their fingers out, they will be slaughtered in the council elections.

They should be walking this. Pathetic that they are not.

The Israelis have designated criticism of Israel as anti semitic, so where does that leave the rest of the world?

The Labour party is getting itself ensnared in another"militant" fiasco, the UK has never embraced socialism, Beveridge, Butler and  Clement Attlee were an aberration brought about by 2 major wars that shamed the upper classes that is unlikely to be repeated and Corbyn is losing his grip, tenous as it was, on the party, if he wins any election, unfortunate to say,  it will be because the Tories have become unelectable.

They need him to step down and someone more centric to take the reigns, I fear alas, the five minutes of fame has gone to his and his backers heads.

He sadly, is no leader, Miliband (and that’s saying a lot) was more convincing!!!

No.no.no. it's all legitimate criticism of Israel,

what's that  you say Jeremy?

" the party leader said anyone who denies that anti-Semitism is "surfacing" in the party is "clearly actually wrong and contributing to the problem"

The power wielded by the extreme right that holds the power in Israel should not be underestimated.  They cleverly orchestrate smear campaigns through the media in western Europe and the USA against any person or political party that criticises their human rights abuses in Israel and they have powerful allies in the west.

As I stated in another thread there is a clear rise in religious extremism across most of the world’s major religions.  This is just another example.

He had his chance at the last election , I thought they were pretty unelectable then , but to have Corbyn as pm I think it we would. be in an even worse situation today

We need a strong opposition and sadly the current Labour Party are not that , it is saying something when you consider the overall standard of parliament at the moment

What would you define as a strong opposition as a matter of interest?

20 years ago it was getting hard to differentiate between Labour and the Tories but Blair led an evidently strong Labour Party into government.  By strong, do you perhaps mean ‘without socialist tendencies’?
