Sponsored job sites?

Are there any job sites that are best for people that want to get sponsored? We really have no idea the best way to get sponsored.

The wife is an accountant but it’s very hard to get the 75 points. Currently on 65 after an English exam, needed 90% for the 20 extra points. So trying to look at all options.

No, all she can do is look at the main job sites such as seek.com.au

You would need to be aware that sponsorship is usually just a temporary visa for up to 4 years. There is no automatic path to PR and comes with a lot of issues such as dependents can struggle to get work, some states charge for educating children, it is tied to the employer, so if she lost her job for any reason, she would only have 60 days to find another sponsor or leave the country.

One of the big issues is if the occupation is removed from the list while on it which happened a lot last year, she would not be able to get a further temp or PR visa. Accountant is flagged again for removal in July. On the flip side, if it remains on the list the points requirement will probably reduce significantly.

It is difficult to get sponsored and no, there's no special website for employers looking to sponsor.

Consider that for an employer, sponsorship is an annoying and complicated load of paperwork, and it costs them money.  Also, of course, it takes time.  It would be nice to think an employer would be prepared to wait for an outstanding candidate - but in practice, most will settle for a second-best local candidate who can start next month without all the bureaucracy and hassle.

Generally, employers sponsor EITHER because there's a desperate shortage of halfway-decent local applicants, OR they're trying to fill a vacancy on the cheap and local applicants won't work for the money or conditions they're prepared to offer.  AFAIK there isn't a shortage of accountants in Australia so I don't like your chances - particularly as employers worry that overseas accountants won't understand Australian tax or reporting requirements.

Sorry to burst your bubble but it's very unlikely you'll get sponsorship. There's a lot of Accountants in Australia outvof work. Employers have plenty to choose from, they won't go down the sponsorship route.

That's what I thought.   It's one of the misleading things about the occupations list:  people assume that because an occupation is on the list, Australia must be crying out for them.  It's not the case - the occupations list seems to respond very slowly to the labour market.  They've been threatening to take accountants off the list for ages, and given the oversupply they probably should.

I worked for the Institute of Chartered Accountants and at one time post grad accountancy students from all over the world were applying to sit the Chartered exams here and most of them were employed as auditors for the large accountancy firms like PricewaterhouseCoopers etc as there was a shortage of qualified accountants at that time.  A few years later there was a large glut of accountants who were finding it hard to get decent employment.  Still is I think.  Same with CPAs

Hopefully they won’t or we’ll never get out their. We’ll just go down the 189 route and get the 75 points and hope to get invited. I’d like England to be more like OZ but unfortunately we’re finding it hard to get in ourselves! When it’s something you think about every minute of every day you tend to be impatient sometimes.
