Skilled 189 - secondary applicant PR

Hello

My partner and I had our skilled permanent visa (189) granted in December 2016 and have been living & working in Aus since. I was the secondary applicant for this.

If we were to break up, does anybody know if I need to inform the DIBP of the change in relationship status? And what if anything it would mean for my own Visa status??

My understanding is that once it is validated you are a permanent resident in your own right but it had not been validated then you would have to inform them.

Hopefully someone else will chip in and add to the discussion.

agreed. my partner came over as my defacto but was granted her own 189. shouldnt need to inform them at this stage
