Carocon1
Hi all, We are moving back to the UK in a couple of months from Cairns QLD and I was looking for a bit of advice. We shipped all our household goods and furniture to Aussie and as we are heading back to the UK we have decided to sell a lot of things rather than take them all back. I wonder what is the best way to sell second hand furniture, books, toys, kitchenware etc in Aus, is it Ebay or gumtree perhaps as I am unsure where to start? Thanks so much for any help you could give. Caroline
Marisawright
I posted smaller stuff, like collectibles and good kitchenware, on eBay. You'd be surprised how much people will bid, but it has to be things that you can post. eBay will try to con you into offering free postage, but ignore that - it will cost you money. Buyer always pays postage! For the larger stuff, I found Gumtree was good. You might also consider postcards in your local supermarket.
LKC
Do you have any local Facebook buy, sell, swap groups? I got rid of most of our things on one of those. Otherwise Gumtree was good, and I took heaps to the charity shop.
Skani
Also, Facebook has a new app called Marketplace which seems to be very popular. I get the impression it is replacing Gumtree for many people.
VERYSTORMY
We sold everything before we moved back. We had a reasonable response on Gumtree, but the best response was the old fashioned way with a poster put up in the local IGA. We got rid of a lot of small things by garage sale
