Hello everyone, I’ll be moving back to the UK in 3 weeks time and was just wondering if I could drive with an provisional Australian license back home? Or get the license exchanged for a UK one?? I’m on my red p’s and have been driving on my own since 15th of December 2017, I’m 19 years old too, it’s been a thing bugging me for ages as I absolutely love driving and will devastate  me if I have to do it all again:((

I'm not sure.

But the insurance would be a killer.

I'm not 100% but you should be able to exchange it for a UK provisional.

Not 100% but I'm sure you can swop that for a full uk license. We don't have p plates here, if you've passed your test you can drive. You have passed your test so in theory it should just be a straight swop.  Yes, insurance is brutal for the first few years.

It's a straightforward swap – you'll just send your Australian Licence to DVLA and they'll issue you with a full UK Licence. 'Red P's' means you've passed your driving test and won't have to redo here. You can drive here using your Australian licence for up to 1 year, before swapping.

Really? So even though I’m on red P’s here I’ll be okay to drive back in the uk?? That’s made me happy!!

Probably good idea to study some theory.

Also, some British roads can be brutal. So depending on where in Australia you have been driving, you may want to ease your way in.

Only annoying thing is that DVLA won't return your Aus licence to you...so if you're back in Aus at some point you'll have to pay for another photocard!
