Tracey1974£
Hep needed! We’re a family of four with two grown teenagers, we’re wanting to emigrate to NSW Australia, unfortunately I’ve worked as a travel agent all my life and turn 44 in March, but my qualifications don’t count on the skilled list, my husband is multi skilled and currently has his own business in the uk doing bathrooms, tiling and any electrical work, he’s just turned 40, the down side is he’s self taught so doesn’t have the qualifications on paper but would happily be assessed, what’s our chances of getting a sponsorship? Thanks.
calNgary
Due to your ages id recommend calling an agent and having a chat with them. As far as i know your hubby would struggle without the qualifications but im no expert so as i say ring an agent and ask whilst time (age) is on your side. VERYSTORMY
I think I would speak to a good agent, but I wouldn't be hopeful. Electrical work and plumbing are highly regulated in Australia. To the extent that fully qualified plumbers and electricians who make the move need to spend up to a year getting a license after they have made the move. Sponsorship, if you mean by a business, is rarely a good idea as it is usually just a temporary visa that comes with a lot of issues.
Marisawright
As Verystormy says, being sponsored by a business is only a good idea if you just feel like having a short-term adventure. It's basically a temp contract, and at the end of it, you have to go back home to the UK. With teenage children I'm not sure I would risk it, because if they want to get into a British university after a few years in Australia, they may be treated as foreign students and have to pay huge fees. Not to mention it's not the best time to disrupt their education.
Samson
If he has been actually running a business, then maybe see whats suitable that route, however if he is a sole trader then I have to agree with the others.
