Just an aside but the standard of written English and the number of errors in that article are shocking.  Presumably the Express doesn’t have proof readers.

Are you still of the view that the EU need the UK every bit as much as the UK need the EU or are you now fully aware who rightly holds the whip hand in these discussions?  What is playing out here is a completely predictable tragedy.

Aston Martin is revving up its China credentials

Aston Martin is set to unveil over £600m worth of investment deals in China this week, as it looks to drive up its presence in the booming auto market there.

According to Sky News, several agreements will be revealed by Aston Martin boss Dr Andy Palmer, including the opening of 10 new showrooms in China.

There are also plans for an exchange programme involving Chinese engineering graduates through a tie-up with Sinomach, as the car giant looks to tap greater interest in the world's largest automotive market.

BBC Brexit BIAS row: Fury over 'two THIRDS of guests on flagship shows being anti-Leave'

THE BBC has been branded a “supporter of a foreign organisation” against British interests after new evidence emerged of its supposed heavy pro-Remain bias in selecting guests.

Quote

The accusation by former Tory chairman Lord Tebbit came during question in the House of Lords ahead of a new damning report which shows that two thirds of guests on BBC Question Time and Any Questions over the last two years have been anti-Brexit.

The analysis by the Institute for Economic Affairs follows another report by the thinktank Civitas last week which revealed that between 2005 and 2015 only 132 of the 4,275 guests asked to speak on the Today programme about the EU supported Leaving.

Raising concerns about the whether the BBC is producing EU propaganda rather than balanced coverage, Ukip peer Lord Pearson urged ministers to intervene.

Lord Pearson noted: “The Brexit Secretary, Mr David Davis, recently said to me that his job in Brussels is made even more difficult because every time he makes a small advance there he is promptly undermined by the BBC.

Well, it's not surprising when the world is clawing it's way out of the GFC.

But this is a bit of a shock.

Doesn't really surprise me that the BBC has the UK's interest at heart rather than Russia's. It's not the RBC.

Although I think McMafia is a brilliant series. Reminds me of the night manager. Absolutely hooked. You all should be so proud to have an organisation such as this. Almost as proud as the NHS.

Bias my arse. If you are right of Genghis khan, everything will look biased against you. Even the express is probably looking a bit left wing for some of you! Lol!

The problem for them I guess is that most people conversant with the subject are against Brexit.  If you remember almost the entire ‘establishment’ and all the main political parties were pro-Remain and campaigned to Remain.  The panel would have to always be made up of 50% hard right Tories/UKIP to be ‘balanced’ on this single issue.  The result would be a total lack of balance on any other topic up for discussion by the panel.

The BBCs job is to challenge and scrutinise the Government and Parliament of the day - this extends to international leaders also.

The fact that at one time or another, every tin pot state Government leader and most first world Government leaders has accused them of bias (be they right wing or left wing - Blair had also been called up and found wanting by them, not just your average Tory), indicates to me that they are doing their job properly. Finding the dirt where others insist on trying to ignore or bury it. Long may it continue. Go BBC.

As is to be expected - the oppositions is up for scrutiny too. Happened with Iain Duncan Smith, Hague etc too - when in opposition.

Hence they can’t really be accused of lefty or right wing bias, really

Some people seem to think that if the media expresses a view which is not their own it is biased. Strange.

Brexit isn't the Government

The Government is seeing it through, hence it is fair game for scrutiny (in terms of what the Government does and doesn't do - is held accountable etc). Pretty straightforward really.

The Government is split down the middle leave/remain.  The BBC bias is against all brexit voters nothing to do with scrutinising Government.

The pound at $1.42 and close to pre vote levels even though we were told it would take years to bounce back. Yet another prediction that falls well short of the mark.

If this turns out to be true then Hammond must go.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/politics/2018/02/01/treasury-officials-developed-gloomy-brexit-forecasts-keep-britain/

Treasury officials have developed bleak economic forecasts about Brexit in a bid to try to keep Britain in the Customs Union, ministers have been told.

Steve Baker, a Brexit minister, confirmed he had been told that the Treasury had developed an economic model "to show that all options other than staying in the Customs union were bad".
